Americas
Represented a lender in the US$110 million financing of an industrial portfolio of nine
properties located in eight different states.
Represented a lender in the US$435 million permanent financing of a new 1,200-room international
brand hotel in Seattle, Washington, designed to serve an expanded convention center.
Represented an international investor group in connection with entering into a joint venture
partnership with a U.S. developer of student housing properties for the purposes of acquiring an
approximately 2,300-bed student housing development servicing the University of California at
Davis. Our representation included the US$450 million acquisition, as well as representing the
joint venture as borrower in connection with a US$292 million agency-based financing.
Represented an affiliate of an independent global real estate investment company in the
acquisition of a US$75 million mezzanine loan, secured by an indirect interest in the RHY Unit
of the 20-30 Hudson Yards Condominium in New York, New York.
Represented an international investor group in connection with its US$370 million acquisition of
the office and retail components of a project in uptown Dallas, Texas, at the time one of the
highest purchase prices per square foot paid for any building in North Texas. In connection with
the acquisition, represented the purchaser as borrower under a US$222 million mortgage loan
facility.
Represented an owner and operator of senior living communities in connection with the
recapitalization of a portfolio of 10 assisted living facilities in Washington, California, and
Nevada.
Advised a financial services provider in connection with the US$34 million financing of a
shopping center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Represented an alternative investment manager in its purchase of approximately €600 million
senior secured notes from subsidiaries of a mezzanine debt investment fund.
Advised a financial services provider in connection with the US$109 million construction
financing of a high-rise mixed-use project in downtown Portland, Oregon.
Represented a mezzanine lender in connection with the origination of a US$140 million mezzanine
loan and a US$75 million mezzanine loan, each secured by a pledge of ownership interests in the
property owner of two mixed-use residential towers in Manhattan.
Represented a portfolio lender in a US$100 million permanent loan on a regional shopping center
in Orem, Utah.
Represented a life insurance company as lender in the US$65 million refinance of a shopping
center.
Represented a Seattle, Washington-based investment manager in connection with obtaining a US$30
million warehouse line of credit.
Represented the private bank division of a national bank in a US$175 million bridge loan on an
office complex slated for redevelopment in San Jose.
Represented a Seattle-based real estate investment firm in the restructure of a US$300+ million
joint venture, including adjustment of ownership percentages, distribution of several
properties, and loan modifications. The properties are located in Washington, Oregon, Colorado,
and Utah.
Represented a lender in a US$82 million Shari’a-compliant loan on a fulfillment center near
Chicago, Illinois.
Represented the lender in a US$63.5 million Shari’a-compliant loan on an industrial/warehouse
park in Tempe, Arizona.
Represented an international institutional investor group in connection with the negotiation of
a joint venture with SL Green for the ownership and development of a to-be-constructed 25-story
mixed-use building 100% pre-leased to a private university in New York City. Our client’s equity
investment was approximately US$75.6 million. Also represented the borrower in connection with
its construction loan in the amount of US$125 million.
Europe
Represented a U.K. real estate investment manager in connection with a £400 million refinancing
secured by a portfolio of retail warehouses located throughout England and Scotland.
Represented an operator of private members' clubs regarding a lease of premises in Great
Cumberland Place, London, England, near client's original club at Portman Square. Assisted
regarding a refinance of the property.
Asia-Pacific
Represented a globally integrated real estate group in relation to the development of
six residential apartment buildings with associated mixed-use retail areas as part of client's
new precinct in Haymarket, Sydney, for approximately AU$1.5 billion.
Represented a client in his acquisition and financing of the purchase of a dormitory with a
business licence to house foreign workers and an ancillary canteen in Singapore.
Represented a power producer in its AU$350 million project financing for the development of a
wind farm in New South Wales.
