Jim Segerdahl served as Global Managing Partner of K&L Gates from March 2017 to
July 2025, concluding his leadership role after two successful terms. During his
tenure as Global Managing Partner the firm achieved significant growth and
recognition in the areas of financial performance; client service, growth,
development and satisfaction; innovation; talent attraction and retention; expansion
into new markets; practice capabilities and excellence; and community service. Prior
to serving as Global Managing Partner, Jim served for a number of years as General
Counsel of the firm, helping to navigate a period of substantial growth in markets
around the world. A distinguished litigator, Jim has handled a variety of complex
litigation and related advice and counseling matters regarding a wide range of
commercial issues. Recognized as a leading insurance coverage lawyer by
"The Best Lawyers in America," he has represented Fortune 500 and
other large policyholder clients in significant matters involving hundreds of
millions of dollars and bet the company scenarios. Jim has litigated on behalf of
clients in jurisdictions across the country, has written and lectured extensively on
insurance coverage and other issues, and is a co-author of Policyholder’s
Guide to the Law of Insurance Coverage (1997), a treatise published by
Aspen Law & Business and updated annually.
