How do I submit an application for a vacancy?
Applications for our allied professionals roles can be made online, via our website,
and should include a cover letter, CV and where relevant, an academic transcript.
What is the hiring process for allied professionals?
If successful, you will be invited to an interview with a member of our HR team and
managers from the hiring department. Depending on the outcome of your interview, you
may participate in a second-round interview or a "meet and greet" with
relevant team members or partners of the firm. The hiring process for
allied professionals includes reference checks and if applicable, police
checks.
Do I receive feedback on my performance?
Our formal performance review process is conducted on an annual basis. In addition
to the formal review process, allied professionals receive informal feedback
from their supervisor during the year. The performance review is an opportunity to
reflect on your achievements, plan for your training and development and discuss
your career path.
What training can I receive as an allied professional at K&L
Gates?
Your professional development commences on day one. You will receive an in-depth
induction to the firm as well as training on relevant IT systems. The Australian
Learning & Development team regularly coordinate, present and facilitate
internal learning sessions. In addition, allied professionals have access to online
training to continue your professional development.
Does K&L Gates have a flexible work policy?
Yes, K&L Gates supports flexible working and recognises that all roles can be
performed effectively with a degree of flexibility. The Flexible Work Arrangement
Policy is shared during the induction program.
What is the pay frequency at K&L Gates?
K&L Gates salary payments are processed on a fortnightly basis to your nominated
bank account.
What happens to my application after submitting it online?
You will receive a confirming email that your application was completed and is under
review by the allied professionals recruiting team. If it is determined that your
experience appears to match our needs, a recruiter will contact you to schedule a
screening interview. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we
receive, we are not able to make personal contact with individuals who are not going
to be invited for interviews.
It’s been a while since I applied and I have not heard anything.
When can I expect to hear from a recruiter?
If there is interest in your candidacy, you can expect to hear from us within 15-20
days of your application. Our selection process timeframes can vary by department.
While candidates selected for interviews will be notified of their status, we regret
that we cannot personally contact all applicants regarding their status.
How do I know if a position is still open or if it has been
filled?
Open positions are listed on our careers page. If a position has been filled,
it will be closed and removed from the site.
I have applied to several positions and haven’t heard anything.
Why am I not being considered or invited for an interview?
Only candidates with the skills and experiences that align most closely with the
requirements for a position are invited to advance through the selection process.
What if I’m interested in the firm but there is no suitable open
position. May I still apply?

When does coverage for health benefits begin?
Coverage begins the first day of the month following an employee’s hire date.
How are new hires oriented and integrated into the firm?
New hires participate in a structured onboarding process and includes departmental
and office introductions, office tour, computer training, training specific to their
position and skill level, and welcome lunches. New hires may be assigned an
integration buddy depending on their position.
Does the firm offer educational and training benefits?
The firm provides growth and learning opportunities through both internal and
external training. Reimbursement for education expenses may be available to an
employee for pre-approved educational opportunities (seminars, workshops, training
programs, certification courses, etc.) that apply directly to the allied
professional's assigned duties. Successful completion is required for
reimbursement.
What is the firm’s dress policy?
The firm has a “dress for your day” dress policy. Allied professionals
may dress in business casual or casual attire depending on the employee’s
location and exposure to clients and/or vendors. All allied professionals are
expected to dress appropriately according to the demands of their daily schedules.
Does the firm offer the option to work remotely?
The firm’s telework policy is available to all exempt employees upon
completion of three months of employment and who meet the eligibility criteria.
Are parking/transportation costs covered by the firm?
The firm offers assistance with public transportation; however, it varies by office.
Allied professionals also have the option to set aside pretax dollars to use
towards public transit and parking expenses.
What is the review process for allied professionals?
The annual performance review process runs from August 1 to July 31. The
employee’s past performance and future goals will be reviewed and discussed.
Results are assessed according to job expectations and the firm’s core
competencies for allied professionals.
How much PTO does the firm offer?
The firm provides a Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit to eligible employees for vacation,
sick leave, or other applicable absences. PTO is accrued upon hire and available for
use following completion of 90 calendar days of employment. PTO allocations vary
based on employment status and location. Additional information will be
available upon hire.
