K&L Gates Corporate M&A Practice Again Among Top Rated in the United States by The Legal 500 with Rankings in Seven Categories and 34 Lawyers Recommended
The corporate practice of global law firm K&L Gates
LLP has again been ranked as a Tier 1 law firm -- one of only eight
firms so recognized -- in the M&A, middle-market ($500m-999m) category
of The Legal 500 United States 2020 guide. In addition to this
category, in which K&L Gates has been listed for more than a decade, the firm also
received rankings this year in the Delaware Corporate Law; FinTech; Private Equity Funds
(including venture capital); Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and Retirement
Plans: Design; Energy Transactions: Conventional Power; and Outsourcing categories,
with more than 30 K&L Gates lawyers ranked or recommended by the
publication.
Wilmington partner Scott Waxman was ranked
as a “Leading Lawyer” for Delaware Corporate Law; John Howell as a
"Leading Lawyer" for Outsourcing; New York partner Calvina Bostick as a “Next
Generation Lawyer” for M&A; and Charlotte partner Leah Baucom as a “Rising Star” for
M&A. The rankings also included a new “Hall of Fame” designation in
M&A for Pittsburgh and New York partner Robert Zinn, a co-leader of
the firm’s corporate and FinTech practices; this designation recognizes
individuals who have repeatedly been ranked as “Leading Lawyers” and
received strong praise for continued excellence.
The practice advises a number of high-profile clients including Microsoft, LKQ
Corporation, and II-VI Incorporated, and in the past year has worked with many of them
to complete deals that further the companies’ strategic goals. Recent deals
include advising Microsoft on its $1 billion investment in OpenAI; advising Sealed Air
Corporation on its $510 million acquisition of Automated Packaging Systems; advising
Evoqua Water Technologies on an agreement to divest its Memcor® membrane product
line to DuPont Safety & Construction; advising Veloxis Pharmaceuticals on a
cross-border $1.3 billion pending tender offer of shares; and advising Maven Wave on its
acquisition by Atos.
“We are pleased that 28 of K&L Gates’ practice groups have been ranked
in this year’s The Legal 500 United States guide, which also
recommends 125 of our U.S. lawyers,” said K&L Gates’ Global Managing
Partner Jim Segerdahl. “Being recognized by our clients and peers as a ‘Tier
One’ law firm for M&A is particularly gratifying for our entire global
corporate team, which continues to work on a full range of sophisticated domestic and
cross-border deals.”
